In conducting the Mental Health Assessment at the Center for Attachment & Trauma, our approach is rooted in the principles of TrustBased Relational Intervention (TBRI), a comprehensive framework designed for individuals, particularly children, who have experienced relationship-based traumas. The assessment commences with a thorough exploration of the individual’s trauma history, focusing on understanding the impact of early relational traumas such as maltreatment, abuse, neglect, and multiple home placements. Applying T BRI Connecting Principles, we delve into assessing attachment patterns, the quality of current relationships, and the individual’s capacity to form healthy connections.

Empowering Principles guide our assessment of the individual’s physical and emotional well-being, identifying any unmet needs and evaluating their sense of autonomy and self-efficacy. Correcting Principles are utilized to assess fear-based behaviors, coping mechanisms, and emotional regulation strategies. Our assessment extends to evaluating the environmental context, including safety, stability, and cultural influences, ensuring a holistic understanding of the individual’s circumstances.

At the heart of our approach is a collaborative, multidisciplinary strategy involving caregivers, case managers, and mental health professionals. T BRI principles serve as the guiding framework for interventions, aiming to create healing environments for individuals who have faced challenging backgrounds. Our goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the individual’s unique attachment and developmental needs.
